A pixel is one of the tiny dots that make up digital photos and videos. Each one is very small, but when many pixels come together, they form clear images, complete with shape and color. This piece was inspired by that idea?the concept of many individual sounds and rhythms joining together to form a musical picture, like pixels shaping a vivid image on a screen.
With a bright and energetic character, the music moves forward with a strong sense of momentum. Steady rhythms and layered harmonies give the piece a sparkling and vibrant feel overall.
In the middle section, the music takes on a calm and reflective tone. Here, you can imagine the beauty of a completed image or a quiet, expansive landscape. This contrast brings out the richness of the harmonies and the resonance of the sounds.
This piece was written to capture the joy of many small sounds coming together to create a lively and unified musical experience. As you perform, I hope you'll think about how each individual part connects with the others, and enjoy the process of building the music together.
