Printed set (Score & Parts)
Four years have passed since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, and society is finally beginning to regain a sense of normalcy - though the pandemic is not entirely behind us yet. As the saying goes, "There is no everlasting rain" I believe that with effort, people can overcome any adversity. This piece was written with that sentiment in mind, using the metaphor of a "dawn" to represent our journey forward.
The year 2024 began with major disasters, making for a turbulent start. I sincerely hope that recovery will continue, moving steadily toward a new dawn.
The piece follows the structure of an overture with contrasting tempos. It opens with a bold and spirited fanfare, followed by an Allegro section that evokes the joy of everyday life. The music then shifts to a more reflective tone, as if looking back on the past. When the fanfare returns, it leads into the central section, which portrays a majestic sunrise breaking over the horizon - or the sea. The piece then returns to the Allegro and drives forward to a rousing finale.
With a level of difficulty that allows students to enjoy the challenge, this piece is well-suited for concerts and competitions alike.
