Towada City in Aomori Prefecture is located in the vast, green countryside of the Sanbongi Plateau, situated between the JR Tohoku Honsen Line's Misawa and Lake Towada. People settled in this area and cultivated fields to build a town because of the Inaoi River. The river diverts its waters from Oirase River, which comes from Lake Towada. Inaoi River, an artificial river, was created after four challenging years of construction starting in 1885 to irrigate the barren Sanbongi Plateau. Once completed, this river was named ""Inaoi River"" by Lord Nanbu Toshitake, the ruler of the southern region. This piece expresses its history and the scenery of the river flowing through the northern green Sanbongi Plateau when the place was a barren land. I hope that players think about the spring scenery of Inaoi River, with its mist rising in the flowing water, the harsh winter of the northern plateau when it was barren, and the determination of the predecessors who faced the challenge of difficult construction and the threats of nature.
Commissioned by Aomori Prefectural Sanbongi High School Wind Orchestra.
