This was my second effort in creating a suite with classics from around the world. The series now includes "Tchaikovskiana", "Espana", "Singaporiana", and "La Danza di Terra".
Though it was composed for a large ensemble of saxophones, it can also be played with a saxophone sextet (soprano 2, alto 1, tenor 1, baritone 2). By adding the 2nd alto and the 2nd tenor (both are a little easier to play), you can play even an octet. In that case, you do not have to play where it says "option".
Spanish-style melodies are scattered everywhere throughout the song. Please look for those familiar songs.
The melody in the middle part (from bar 119) is known as the bass line of Corelli's "La Folia". Here I relied on "Spanish Rhapsodie" by Franz Liszt.
Zapateado in bar 167 is a dance unique to Spain. Think of it as a bit like Tarantella. I want you to create cheerful dance music.
