This piece is based on the Noh play "Kurozuka (a black mound)" and performed by Tokyo Metropolitan Koyamadai High School Brass Band and Seika High School Wind Orchestra.
Kurozuka is one of Three Demon Women including Dojo-ji and Aoi-no-ue, from a play concerning demon women. I also did several works on the theme of Dojo-ji. I tried to express the various emotions and thoughts of the woman, but Kurozuka focuses on the sadness of a woman living alone in poverty and the madness she feels when her kindness is betrayed.
In addition, "Adachi-gahara", Osamu Tezuka's short manga comic influenced me, based on the same theme of Kurozuka. The story of a woman waiting for her beloved and feeling betrayed. It is not just a demon tale; the story leading up to it is heartbreaking.
This work blends atonality and tonality. I would appreciate if you could play it expressively, feeling the musical direction of the phrases and harmonies.
