Carmen is renowned for attractive melodies and rhythms. In this Carmen Fantasy I selected several songs from the famous Hoffman version of the first and second suites. The piece begins with the fanfare from "Changing of the Guard" and moves on to "Gypsy's Dance 1" (Rehearsal Number A~), "Habanera" (B~), "Gypsy's Dance 2" (E~), "Aragonaise" (F~), "Seguidilla" (L~), "Gypsy's Dance 3" (M~), "Torero (Bullfighter)" (N~), and "Gypsy's Dance 4" (O~).

However, this fantasy is not a verbatim medley and has two important characteristics. The first is that "Gypsy's Dance" appears between each song like a ritornello, and each time it sounds from its beginning through to the climax. It drives the entire fantasy with increasing excitement. The second is fragments from "Torero (Bullfighter)" appear in all songs. As the piece progresses, the proportion of "bullfighter" insertions increases and create increasing intensity towards the conclusion. In addition, "Habanera" and "Seguedilla" also appear in the bridge. I hope you enjoy and express the famous melodies of Carmen with great enthusiasm.
