If I had to briefly describe the work, it would be a song running at a constant and fast tempo. While it uses jazz harmonies, there are "crashing" emphatic moments. On top of that, we emphasized catchiness. There are a lot of blue notes and improvised phrases, but these are all written in the score and the piece is in a classical style.
Many of my previous works have titles with colors, and this piece uses the color "Platinum". Fate is like a roll of dice, and if so, one seeks a more beautiful and brilliant roll of the dice...an image coming from the color "Platinum". However, these are self-indulgent images, and the music is composed as absolute music. I hope you will listen to it freely.
In creating this, I aimed for a piece that could be widely performed in the repertoire. This is one of my challenges as a composer. Of course, sometimes, it is important to create a work of art that disregards the opinions and consciousness of others. The projection of various thoughts and feelings, that is what makes a new work of art interesting. There is also a sense of going through an endless maze, wondering how far I can go as a composer and what I want to write or what I should write. It is also like a roll of dice of fate, I think.
This work was commissioned by La port?e, a group of composers, premiered in 2022.
