The animation film "Kiki's Delivery Service," produced by Studio Ghibli, was released in 1989. From its original soundtrack, six pieces: "A Town with an Ocean View," "Starting the Job," "Jeff," "Heartbroken Kiki," "The Old Man's Push Broom," and "Rendezvous on the Push Broom" have been arranged for performance.

This arrangement is written for a flexible five-part ensemble, making it possible to perform with as few as five wind instrument players. However, if more performers are available, the sound can be enriched by adding the optional parts written for "high woodwinds" and "percussion parts."
This selection is suitable for various settings, from small ensembles to full concert bands.
About the Performance:
* When performing with the high woodwind parts "opt. A" and "opt. B," it is preferable not to include the flute in "Part 1" to avoid muddying the contrast in sound texture.
* The "opt. B" part should only be used if "opt. A" is also being used, as playing "opt. B" without "opt. A" can disrupt the balance.
* Including either A.Sax., Trp., or BbCl. in "Part 1" will help stabilize the sound.
* The dynamic piece "The Old Man's Push Broom" is particularly impressive when performed by a full concert band.
* Parenthesized grace notes are provided as alternatives for passages that may be difficult to perform.
