From the opera of Giuseppe Verdi (1852) regarded as one of three masterpieces from his mid-life period. Many of its songs are ornate and melodies are often performed solo.
The "Chorus of Soldiers" and "The horrid flames of that pyre" chosen for this octet come from the third act. The brave chorus of soldiers and the sparkling Cabaletta of Manrico (tenor) shine on the stage.
