Commissioned by BUZZ FIVE (brass quintet) in 2012.
The theme is an oasis, associated with the special program "Africa" at that time. Water can quench our thirst and vitalize us. However, the more you seek an oasis in the desert, the farther and more valuable you realize it to be.

Like a distant vista seen through a long tone and motifs resembling signs, a canon of rhythms originating from a 16-beat pattern emerges. Gradually, a long melody appears, delicately shifting in rhythm and timbre. It draws a middle section of 7/16, forming a splendid climax filled with 'moisture' and then returning to a distant landscape created by long tones.

With the consistent tempo, you will feel the change in speed due to the rhythmic differences. Also, delicately handle the nuance of both timbre and rhythm.
