Solomon's Ring comes from a request by Brain Company Limited (Bravo Music, USA) to offer quality compositions with a wide variety of flexible instrumentation.
Solomon was King of Israel, as described in the Old Testament of the Bible. In the 10th Century B.C., after ascending to the throne, he planned a temple for the sacred city of Jerusalem. Beset by many obstacles and difficulties, a disheartened Solomon went to Mount Moriah, the temple mount, and prayed. There, the Archangel Michael appeared and gave a magical ring. This ring gave Solomon the power to command angels and demons, enabling him to complete the temple and guide the prosperous Ancient Kingdom of Israel.
Instrumentation is for flexible 6 wind and string parts plus optional 3 percussion parts. Drum set can be used to play 2 percussion parts.
Not just for small bands and ensemble settings, this piece also provides a great performance opportunity for brass band, including cornets, alto horns, and baritones.
