Pictures at an Exhibition is a milestone for wind musicians. However, there are many situations in which "we want to play but we can't just now" because of the need for large orchestration or tricky time and key signatures. This arrangement can be played in a variety of combinations, from a minimum of 6 players to a large ensemble. The range is comfortable, and in the famous "Promenade", the odd time signature is simplified by combining 4/4 and 3/4.

In addition, because the songs that work best for concert band are excerpted in compact form, there's no pressure regarding performance duration and it can be used as it is for competition. Most bands can use this work to enjoy the experience of Pictures at an Exhibition.
