This work was commissioned and premiered by Seika High School in 2018. I often compose based on narratives such as "Tsuchigumo Legend" and "Ryoran", but this expressed love as a title, Song of Love and Prayer. While there is a lot of love within, the work moreover expresses emotions such as the feelings, suffering, and conflict associated with having loved.

The song is roughly divided into four scenes, starting with a beautiful theme and harmony that is characteristically full of love, a second scene that expresses conflicts with oneself such as anger and misery, and then the atmosphere changes dramatically. A third scene expresses gratitude and prayers for the loved one, and the finale culminates with various mixed feelings and great intensity.
Overall, it is very dramatic music, so I would be happy if you would strive to portray each thought with great expressiveness.

(Tomohito Matsushita)
