Taku Chi Sui for Wind Ensemble is an expanded and revised version of the original ensemble work for wind and percussion octet (published by Brain Music), now arranged for full wind ensemble.

The title Taku Chi Sui refers to the 45th hexagram of the I Ching, one of the Five Classics of Chinese literature. However, I will not elaborate on its meaning here-please take the time to explore it yourself. You might even try casting the hexagram. Doing so will deepen your interpretive understanding of this work. Please note that this piece is not programmatic or descriptive music. It does not depict or represent specific images or stories-there is no"this part represents that" kind of interpretation. Rather than adding unnecessary narratives, perform the work as pure music, focusing on the relationships and transitions between sounds and the musical phenomena they create.

To fully appreciate and express this piece, I encourage you to study the absolute music of the great masters-Bach, Beethoven, Brahms. Such study will greatly expand your musical perspective.
