"The Castle of Carcassonne" was composed in 2010 as a commissioned work for the 14th "Kyo-En" of the 21st Century Wind Music series.

Carcassonne is one of Europe's leading fortified cities, located in the southwest of France. From the Gallo-Roman period through the Middle Ages, its geographical significance always made it a target in wars. Inspired by a visit to the area, the composer expanded upon the impressions of the city and its history, freely depicting the grandiose landscapes of the castle enclosed by walls, the appearance of the castle under siege, and the valiant knights repelling external enemies.

Designed for performance by a minimum of 16 players, the piece is technically accessible, allowing for enjoyment by musicians ranging from novices to those in regular bands.
