"Sinfonietta" composed in 2000 was revised in 2022 as Sinfonietta No. 1 "Poem of the Earth", commissioned by the Kazuya Kawakatsu Family Wind Orchestra. The tone patterns of the opening theme and the motives in bars 17 and 63 were used as they were in the original version of 2000, while the development of the other themes, harmony and orchestration were newly rewritten in 2022. The piece is structured in such a way that the opening theme and the motives in bars 17 and 63 are developed. The sound pattern of the theme is used not only in the melody line, but also in the bass line and inner voices, so if the details of the theme are clearly conveyed, the expression will be three-dimensional. Also, in the motive in bar 17, for example, please make sure to capture the tempo and rhythm so that the sixteenth notes are not too short.
I hope the powerful quarter-note ticking by the timpani at the beginning of the piece sounds like the heartbeat of the earth; thus I have given the subtitle "Poem of the Earth".
